Hiking is an important and interesting form of walking for the more
adventurous of us. Although some hikes, particularly my east coast
hikes, are covered along with more casual walks in other parts of
the book, this part concentrates on hiking. And rock climbing, which
may be stretching the definition of walking a bit (think of it as
vertical walking), but a brief look at it is warranted. Just to keep
your attention there are adventures on Mt. San Jacinto and Mt. Whitney,
and my most traumatic adventure of all—getting lost in the wilderness
of Colorado.
